ROANOKE, Va. —
Vivian Walker Woods, 97, of Roanoke passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry S. Woods.
She is survived by her son, Donald S. Woods and Carolyn, of Bedford, VA, one grandson, Jack Mann and his wife, Lisa, of Big Island, VA, three granddaughters, Holly Layne, Laura Carrington and her husband, John, Leslie Hicks and her husband, Kirk, all of Lynchburg, VA and eleven beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear niece, Marilyn Porterfield and her husband, Jim.
Vivian was born in Cripple Creek, VA on May 27, 1926, the youngest of six girls. She moved to Bluefield, W.VA, where she will be laid to rest, and spent the majority of her life in Roanoke, VA. She was a charter member of the West Virginia Club and a long time devoted member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing music and making crafts for her Sunday School class. She was very devoted to her faith and to her church family who returned their devotion and love to her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family.

Visitation will be on Sunday evening, August 18, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Oakey’s Funeral Home North Chapel, 6732 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. There will be a family graveside service the following morning at 11:00 AM at Monte Vista Cemetery in Bluefield, W.VA.
