Emma V. French Pokorney of Rock, WV, died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born January 25, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William M. French and Beatrice Lanter French. Mrs. Pokorney was retired as a nurse from Bluefield Community Hospital. She was a Christian her entire life and will be greatly missed by her entire family, friends and co-workers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David R. Pokorney; sister, Thada C. French; granddaughter, Rebecca Arney; and great-grandson, Benny D. Clay, III.
She is survived by her brother, William K. French and wife Joan; daughters, Carolyn A. Hodges and husband Roger, Dreama Pokorney, and Debra Brown; grandchildren, Christopher Pokorney and wife Brandy, Shawna Owens and husband Scott, Kristi Lambert and husband Shane, Melonie Mills and husband Nathan, Leanna Estep, Tonya Anderson and husband Ralph, and Tiffany Brown; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with the Rev. James Price officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
