Sarah Ellen Stevenson, 73, of 202 McKinley Ave. in Princeton, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at her residence. Born in Del Rio, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Ben and Rachel Payne Shelton. She had been a resident of Princeton for the past 24 years moving here from Newport, Tenn.
In addition to her parents, five brothers, Paul, Cornelius, Furman, Gary and James Shelton and one sister, Menerva Shelton preceded her in death.
Survivors include five daughters, June McGaha and her husband James of Hartford, Tenn., Melissa Fine of Dandridge, Tenn., Carrie Crumbley and her husband J.W. and Chassidy Stokley all of Newport, Tenn. and Jennie Murray and her husband James of Jonesborough, Tenn.; one son, Robert Valentine of Princeton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie Shelton of Newport, Tenn.; and special friend who was by her side at death, Bobby G. Stevenson of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Daniel Gunnoe officiating. In keeping with her wishes, Sarah will be cremated following services and her cremains will be buried in a family cemetery in Tennessee at a later date. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 1:00 p.m. to the service hour on Sunday.
