BLUEFIELD, Va. — John K. O’Neal

BLUEFIELD, Va. — John K. O’Neal, 73, of 319 Edgewood Rd., Bluefield, Va., died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

He was born at Kalarny, W.Va.,  and was a son of the late Boyd Marshall O’Neal and Rheda Josephine Sarver O’Neal.

John was a 50 year member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, Va., where he served as Sunday School Director and Teacher and was Chairman of the Ushers and served as Deacon. He retired from M.J. Electric and was a former employee for Rental Uniform Co. He had served in the U.S. Army reserves, was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and was a charter member of the Bluefield, Va. Rescue Squad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Frank, twins, Perry and Larry O’Neal and by a sister Francis O’Neal.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Sue Hatfield O’Neal; son, John Mark O’Neal and wife Linda, of Bluefield, Va.; daughters, Lisa K. O’Neal Clemson and husband Travis, of Richmond, Va., Susan Lynn O’Neal Gibberson and  husband James of Bluefield, Va.; grandchildren, Andrew John Clemson, Hunter O’Neal, Brandon Gibberson, Cody Clemson and Kelsey Gibberson; great-grandchild, Cason B. Carman;  brother, Bill O’Neal and wife Nancy of Princeton, W.Va., sister, Dot Morgan and husband Johnny of Cool Ridge, W.Va.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Lacy Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family, Friday, March 29, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church, 401 Virginia Ave., Bluefield, Va.

Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va., is serving the O’Neal family.
