Virginia L. Brooks, age 89, of Bartley, West Virginia, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 29, 2013, at Golden Harvest Long Term Care in Welch Community Hospital. Born May 27, 1924, in Huntington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Nora Baldwin Davis.
She was a resident of Bartley the greater part of her life and she was of the Protestant faith.
Preceded in death by in addition to her parents; her husband, Clarence D. Brooks of Bartley; two brothers; three sisters; and one grandson.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia McClanahan of Oakvale, W.Va., Drema Akers and husband William of Bradshaw, W.Va., Alma (Twynkle) Wheeler and husband John of Bartley; two brothers, Glenn Davis and wife Bernice and Gene Davis and wife Jane all of Elizabethton, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch with the Reverend John Wheeler, officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens on the Tazewell Road in Bluefield, Virginia.
Friends may call Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the funeral home, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law, William Akers, Shawn Akers, Adam Wheeler, Ryan Wheeler, Brian Bailey and Timothy Kelley.
Fanning Funeral Home of Welch is serving the Brooks family.
