Michael C. Morgan Sr. (Pork Chop)

PANTHER — Michael C. Morgan, Sr., 59, of Panther, W.Va., died Monday, November 8, 2010 at his residence following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born October 13, 1951 in Wyoming County, W.Va., a son of the late Linzie and Middie Frazier Morgan. He graduated from Baileysville High School in 1971, was a former truck driver for several different trucking companies, and attended the Church of God. He was also a United States Navy Veteran and a former member of the American Legion Post #175. Additionally, he was formerly employed at Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger and was affiliated with them and their employees for 39 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Morgan; and one nephew, Freddie Morgan.

Survivors include his companion, Sue Bailey of Panther; one daughter, Nea Osborne of Roderfield; three sons, Michael C. Morgan Jr. and wife Malorie of Iaeger, James Linzie (J.L.) Morgan and wife Sasha of Princeton, and Lawrence Ray Morgan of Mohawk; two grandsons, Blaine Morgan of Iaeger and Little Dan Osborne of Roderfield; one granddaughter, Danielle Paige Osborne of Roderfield; adopted daughter, Lisa Dotson and her children, Whitney and Kelsi Dotson of Mohawk; close family friend, Hattie Stacy and family, and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Daniel Dean, the Reverend Jackie Lester, the Reverend Ricky Hunt, and the Reverend Pete Woods officiating at the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in Sue’s Cemetery at Panther, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #175 and the VFW Post #1144.  Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Bailey, Drew Bailey, Mitchell Estep, Dalton Justice, Cody Kennedy, and Clayton Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. MI Kokar, Dr. Charles Gabe, Herman Lawrence, Howard (Butch) Bivens, Danny Kennedy, Senator John P. Fanning, James Sly, Bob Blankenship, and Ricky Hunt.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday evening, November 11, 2010 at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger.
