RICHLANDS, Va —
Mrs. Wanda Mutter Padgette, age 84, of Richlands, VA formerly of Buchanan County, VA passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 following an extended illness. Wanda was the daughter of the late Clair and Bessie Mutter.
She grew up in Oakwood, VA and graduated from Garden Creek High School. She moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career. While working at Western Union she met her husband, Carl Padgette. Following her husband’s death she returned to Virginia residing in Richlands where she could often visit the old family home in Oakwood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Padgette, three brothers William S. Mutter, Carlos B. Mutter and Jessie Mutter and her beloved grandson, Adam C. Behneman.
She is survived by one daughter Christine (Susan) Braun; one brother Ferrell Mutter; four sisters Dallas Hess, Fern Duecaster, Olga Davis and Lydia Coleman; two grandchildren, Eric C. Braun and Amy Canakaris; great grandchildren, Devin Stanish, Christopher Behneman, Aaron Behneman, Maria Canakaris and Drew Canakaris.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wanda Mutter Padgette will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA. Burial will follow in the Addison-Mutter Cemetery at Marvin, VA. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA.
