BRISTOL, Tenn. —
Vera Kathleen Campbell Walls, age 87, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center.
She came to the US as a WWII war bride aboard the QE II. She traveled to Woodman, KY to meet with her husband, Edmund Campbell. From there they moved to Whitewood, VA where she worked for Jewell Smokeless. Then they moved to Richlands where she worked for Hankins Printing. After her husband Ed passed away she moved to Bristol to be near her family. She later married longtime friend Harlan Walls and split time between Richlands and Bristol.
She was a member of Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Keen of Bristol, Beverly Elswick and husband, Robert of Richmond, VA; granddaughter: Kathy Johnston of Bristol; grandsons: Edmund Keen of Bristol, Nathan Elswick of Richmond, VA; sister: Eileen Sunderland of England; brother: Brian Mills of England; great-granddaughter whom she considered her baby girl: Christalynn Johnston.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Chuck Trent officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Monday, March 3, 2014 at Akard Funeral Home.
