NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Iris Verlin Patton Pruett, age 88 of North Tazewell, Va., died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va. Born October 25, 1925 in Tazewell, Va., she was a daughter of the late, Leftridge Claude Patton and Julia Ann Brooks Patton. She was a longtime member and Sunday School teacher at the former Adria Advent Christian Church now Adria Community Church.
In later years, she attended the Riverside Community Church at North Tazewell, Va. Although not an active member recently, in earlier years she was involved in the VFW Women's' Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Pruett, Sr.; one son, Wayne Pruett; and one sister, Vivian Price.
She is survived by one son, David C. Pruett Jr. and wife, Judy of Lynchburg, Va.; two grandsons, David T. Pruett and wife, Jennifer of Fredericksburg, Va. and Christopher M. Pruett and wife, Rebekah of Lynchburg, Va.; six great-grandchildren, David, Carly, and Blake Pruett of Fredericksburg, Va., Weston, Cameron, and Ava Pruett of Lynchburg, VA; daughter-in-law, Reva Pruett of North Tazewell, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dickie Reynolds of North Tazewell, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Mark Sexton and Nathan Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014.
