RICHLANDS, Va. — RICHLANDS, Va. — Adam Shane Cruey, age 36 of Richlands, Va., graduated to Heaven on Sunday, November 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 8, 1977 in Richlands, Va. he was the son of Nancy Lawson Casey of Richlands, Va. and Randy Cruey and wife, Jean of Richlands, Va. He was a 1995 graduate of Richlands High School where he was a member of the Richlands High School football team. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He was an avid outdoorsman.  Adam loved to fish and play bluegrass music. He attended the Cornerstone Tabernacle Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Ruth Cruey; his maternal grandfather, Donald R. Lawson; one sister, Juanita Ruth Cruey; and one brother, Randy Lee Cruey.

In addition to his parents he is survived by one daughter, Megan Renee Cruey; maternal grandmother, Flora (Maw) Lawson of Richlands, Va.; step brother, Joseph Greenawalt and wife, Jessee of North Carolina; step sister, Amnesty Casey of Richlands, Va.; his loyal companion, Banjer; and loving uncles, aunts, cousins and family. He is also survived by his loving church family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. with Rev. Rick Whitt and Rev. Ricky Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands, Va. Pallbearers will be Edward Lawson, Tim Lawson, Jason Lawson, Jason Keen, R.B. Whitt, Marcus Lynch, Travis Tatum and Jerry Tatum. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Stefanini, Dr. Sahyouni, CVMC Hospital and Staff, UVA Hospital Staff especially MICU West and North and 6th Floor Central Staff.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
