SALEM, Va. —
Cora Louise Kiser, 91, of Salem and formerly of Big Stone Gap, VA, went to join her husband with the Lord in their heavenly home on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Howard Greenville Kiser; her parents, William Reese and Rebecca Ann Lawson; brothers, Walter, Clarence, Cecil, Frank, William, and Everett; sisters, Flora, Dorothy, Bessie, and Emma; and one son-in-law, Richard Thomas Miers.
She is survived by sons, Howard Benjamin Kiser and his wife, Beverly, and Jonathan Edward Kiser; daughters, Naomi Lucille Neel and her husband, Dallas, Wanda Faith Carter and her husband, Jimmy, Martha Onetia Miers, and Priscilla Loretta Sharpe and her husband, Eddie; eighteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Louise was a proud member of the Salem Church of God and the Retired Ministers Association. She was a pastor’s wife, played the piano, and served in many different roles in the church. She was known to many to love to travel. She enjoyed senior coffee with three creams at McDonald’s, and KFC in Salem was her favorite place to eat. She enjoyed doing her word puzzles, but her true love were her children and family.
A period of visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Salem Church of God with Pastor Jason Wilbourne officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Tazewell, VA.
