YARDS, Va. — Shelby Jean Herald, 75, of Yards, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 in Wytheville, Virginia. Born in Bishop, VA she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Grant Herald and Opal Irene Wright. Her passion in life was taking care of her cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Johnnie Grant Herald.  

Survivors include three sisters, Shirley Ruth George of Wytheville, VA, Betty Jo Baker of Wytheville, VA and Peggy Joan Casdorph of Rock, WV; two nieces, Colleen Birkholz of Wytheville, VA and Misti Williams of Rock, WV; two nephews, Dean Birkholz of Wisconsin and Jerry Fry of Princeton, WV.  

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Pastor Larry Dyer officiating. Internment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.

Friends may call Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Williams, Thomas Williams, Jerry Fry, Arlyn George, Teddy Baker and Clayton Wagner.
