NEWHALL — Hazel Leona Brewster, age 79, of Newhall, W.Va., died Monday, September 16, 2013 at her home. Born July 26, 1934 in War, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late, George W. Nunley and Ida Mae Hicks Nunley. She was a member of the Berwind House of Praise Church in Berwind, W.Va. and a member of The Daughters of Pocahontas. Mrs. Brewster was an avid quilter and former blue ribbon winner for her quilts at the Tazewell County Fair.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Edith Marion Brewster; one sister, Goldie Strand; two brothers, George Nunley, Jr. and Norman Nunley.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert L. Brewster; one daughter, Cathy L. Helmandollar of Newhall, W.Va.; two sisters, Rosie Fournier of Princeton, W.Va. and Carol Burton of Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren, Shawn T. Helmandollar of Princeton, W.Va., Tonya L. Soto and husband, David, and McKenzie Helmandollar, all of Newhall, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Pastor Jimmy Dickens and Pastor Arnold Marrs officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12 noon on Thursday.
