PRINCETON — Roger Zane Kimble, 75, of Princeton passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Ruth Belcher Kimble and John Paul Kimble.

Roger joined the U.S. Army in 1956. He served his country in South Korea as a Military Policeman in the 716th as a bodyguard to Generals, Congressmen, Senators, and the former President of South Korea. Once stateside, he was employed by Proctor and Gamble as a Sales Representative.

He faithfully served his community by working with the Princeton Public Library and the Mercer County Humane Society, serving many years as a Board Member with both organizations. He was an avid photographer, winning prizes for his work. He also enjoyed water-color painting, and writing, but his greatest joy was reading. Roger was a friend to every living creature, plant or animal, taking in many abandoned cats and dogs over the years. All of nature bowed its head in sorrow when Roger went to Heaven.

He was a graduate of Princeton High School Class of 1956, and attended Concord College and Penn State.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Judith Hill Kimble; one daughter, Amanda; and sister-in-law, Hope H. Hall of Alpharetta, GA.

Cryptside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Chapel of the Wildwood in Princeton with Chaplain Roscoe Boone officiating. The West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. Those attending the cryptside service are asked to meet at Roselawn Mausoleum by the service hour on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make a memorial gift to the Princeton Public Library, 920 Mercer St., Princeton, WV 24740.
