Sallie Sanders Sublett

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Sallie Sanders Sublett, 91, of  Bluefield, Va. (Abb's Valley), passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va. Born in Boissevain, Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter Frazier Sanders and Bessie Ruble Sanders. She was employed by Tazewell County Schools as a supervisor and cook for the Abb's Valley Elementary School in Abb's Valley, Va. for 26 years. Sallie was also a member of the Boissevain Baptist Church in Boissevain, Va. and enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Sublett; brothers, John, Walter, Roy, Harry and Ernest Sanders; and one sister Nan Sanders Asbury.

Survivors include her son, Amos J. Sublett (Lani) of Hurricane, W.Va. and special grandson, Robert Sublett of Abb's Valley, Va.; two sisters, Dorothy Mahaffey (Wain) of Abb's Valley, Va. and Irene Graham (Sam) of Abb's Valley, Va.; grandchildren, Sherri Jarvis (Bruce) of Winchester, Ky., Kathy Wolfe (Harold) of Bluefield, W.Va., Lori Sublett of Culloden, W.Va., Tara Womack (Lonnie) of Hurricane, W.Va., and Warren Sublett of Hurricane, W.Va.; special niece, Connie Pauley (Eddie and family) of Bluefield, Va.; one step-granddaughter, Melanie Proton (Victor) of Glasgow, Mont., six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ First United Methodist Church in Abb's Valley, Va. with the Rev. Carlos Hess and the Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Christ First United Methodist Church in Abb's Valley, Va. Pallbearers will be Chris Hinkle, Steve Boone, Joe Murphy, Kevin Pauley, Steve Blankenship and Jason Chapman.  Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Sublett, Charles Hinkle, Norman Murphy, Robert Sublett and Eddie Pauley.

The Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. is serving the Sublett family.
