James Edward Heslep, 80, of Princeton, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at GlenWood Park Retirement Village. Born Jan. 1, 1933 at Lamar, he was the son of the late William Heslep and Eula Bailey Heslep.
Mr. Heslep retired from General Motors in Michigan in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Korea. He was an active member of the Princeton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed white water rafting, golf and riding four-wheelers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ramona Heslep; maternal grandparents, Walter and Ida Mae Bailey; three brothers, John Allen Heslep Sr., Don Heslep and William Gerald Heslep.
Survivors include his wife of 5 1/2 years, Donna Fuller Heslep of the home; four children, Mary Alice Forbes and her husband Gary of Lake Orion, Mich., Matt Heslep and his wife Kim of Waterford, Mich., Nathan Heslep and his wife Ann of Bluffton, Ohio, and Thad Heslep of Burton, Mich.; four grandchildren, Jessica Christoff and her husband Joe of North Branch, Mich., Abigail Heslep and Amelia Heslep of Bluffton, Ohio and Reese Heslep of Burton, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Ethan Christoff of North Branch, Mich.; and one sister, Betty Bailey and her husband Amos of Lamar.
A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. In keeping with his wishes, the body has been cremated. Memorial service arrangements are not complete.
