Adam Grygiel, age 88, of Gary, W.Va., passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at Golden Harvest Long Term Care in Welch. Born October 18, 1924, in Hemphill, W.Va., he was the son of the late John and Catherine Kolbus Grygiel.
He was a resident of McDowell County all of his life. He was retired from U.S. Steel in Gary, W.Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and he was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Gary.
Preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, his wife, Opal Maxine Grygiel; four brothers; four sisters; and a special nephew, Judge Rudolph Murensky.
Survivors include three sons, John Grygiel and wife Peggy of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Adam Grygiel and wife Mary of Skygusty, Joe Grygiel of Gary; one sister, Margaret Cruikshank of Marion, Mich.; a special cousin, Judge Rick Murensky of Welch; five grandsons, Robert Adam Grygiel, John Flavian Grygiel, Alec Thomas Grygiel, Nathan Cole Grygiel, Adam E. Grygiel Jr.; one granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Grygiel.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch with Father Paulose Manickathan, officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, where military rites will be conducted by the Iaeger V.F.W. Post 1144.
Friends may call Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the funeral home, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
