BLUEFIELD — Acie W. Gillespie, 92, of 1940 Princeton Ave., Bluefield, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bluefield and was a son of the late Columbus Gillespie and Gracie Bowman Gillespie.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a disabled American Veteran, and had received three Bronze Stars. He retired from Bluefield Produce, formerly worked for National Electric Coil Co. and more recently worked for the Bluefield, Va. Dairy Queen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret Gillespie.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Stella M. Proffitt Gillespie; sons, Isaac K. Gillespie of Concord, N.C. and Daniel Gillespie of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter, Bonnie Spradlin of Eubank, Ky.; grandchildren, Bryan Ramey, Benjamin Gillespie and Michelle; five great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Rains.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Pastor Kathy Hagerman officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Cline, Eddie Cline, Steve Cline, Billie Cline, Ike Gillespie and Daniel Gillespie.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Bluefield, Va. VFW 9696 and the Pocahontas American Legion 14.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until hour of services.
