WEYANOKE — Leonard Randall Ayers

WEYANOKE — Leonard Randall Ayers, 83, of Weyanoke died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home. Born May 27, 1929 at Crumpler he was the son of the late John Dillard Ayers and Louella Lusk Ayers.

Mr. Ayers was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Margie Bailey and two brothers, Johnny Ayers and Richard Ayers.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anna Jay Atwell Ayers; two daughters, Glenda Bailey and husband Larry of Matoaka and Janet Shrewsbury and husband, Daniel Sr., of Princeton; one son, Wayne Ayers and wife Elizabeth of Athens; four grandchildren, Daniel Shrewsbury Jr., of Beeson, Angie Phillips and husband Shean of Winston-Salem, N.C., Lisa Goins and husband Danny of Spanishburg and Rachel and Stephen Ayers of Athens; four great-grandchildren, Breanna and Megan Goins, Ariana and Tatiana Phillips; special caregiver, Ashley Laxton and home health nurse Shirley Scott.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Larry Bailey and Rev. Randolph Dishner officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Shrewsbury, Jr, Danny Goins, Shean Phillips, Daniel Shrewsbury, Sr, Wayne Ayers and Alvie Dean Bailey.
