TAZEWELL, Va. —
TAZEWELL, Va. — Mrs. Bertha Teague Agnew, age 99, previously of Tazewell, Va., died on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Piney Forest Healthcare Center in Danville, Virginia.
She was born on July 4, 1914, in McDowell County, West Virginia, to the late, Sam Teague and Lula Younts. Ms. Agnew was a homemaker and member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, of North Tazewell, Va.
Mrs. Agnew is survived by her sisters, Jean Parrish and Marion Shelton, both of Danville, Va.; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Agnew was predeceased by her husband, John “Brown” Agnew; son, Billy Lee Gusley; granddaughter, Bonnie Ledford-Morgan; three sisters, Hazel Saul, Estelle Funk and Elva Sterner; brothers, Roy Teague and Sam Teague; step-mother, Cora Hutcherson Teague; and step-daughters, Melba Gray and Billie Ledford.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2014 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Virginia with the Reverend Gordon McBride officiating.
