Kenneth Russel Brewster, age 89 of Newhall, W.Va. died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va. Born November 20, 1924 at Squire, W.Va., he was a son of the late, George and Annie Shrader Brewster. He was a member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Brewster was a US Navy Veteran serving during World War, II. He was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA Local #6025 at Bishop, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Virginia Dishman Brewster; two sisters, Lucy Wilfong and Georgie Brewster; three brothers, Eugene Brewster, Aaron Burleigh Brewster, and Vernon Brewster.
He is survived by one daughter, Ann Pennington and husband, Bobby of Bishop, Va.; three brothers, Hubert Brewster of Newhall, W.Va., Gail Brewster and wife, Anna of Chesapeake, Va., and Raymond Brewster of Middletown, Ohio; one sister, Bobbi Musick and husband, Crafton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren, Teresa Pennington of Woodstock, Va., Rhonda Montgomery and husband, Tommy of Glade Spring, Va., and Renee Pennington of Blountville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Zack Wilson, Jared Pennington, and Jennifer Moore; four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Darrell Long and Pastor Mark Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:30 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014.
