BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Charles Tiffany “ Tiff “ Kiser of Bluefield, VA formerly of Tazewell, VA died Monday, November 25, 2013 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, WV. Born August 19, 1928 in Tazewell, VA he was a son of the late Henry A. Kiser and Aneita Peery Kiser.
Mr. Kiser served in the United States Army and received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. A graduate of Emory and Henry, Tiff competed in two bowl games and was a member of the first tennis team.
As both teacher and coach at Tazewell High School he served as a great positive role model to his students, instilling in them the desire to succeed not only in sports but in life. After 15 years coaching at THS he took a position at Southwest Virginia Community College to help them get their physical education up and running. Later Tiff became the golf pro at Wolf Creek Golf Club until his retirement. Tiff was honored to be an inaugural inductee into the Tazewell High School Hall of Fame in 2008.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Helen Sexton Kiser; one sister, Ruth Kiser Short; two brothers, Henry Kiser, Jr. and William Peery Kiser.
He is survived by his stepchildren, William E. Sexton and wife, Shelly, Richard D. Sexton and wife, Katharine, and Vickie L. Doby and husband, Eric ; ten grandchildren; and niece, Mary R. Stark of New Albany, IN.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Doug McDaniel officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12 Noon on Wednesday.
