Lowell Dewitt Taylor Sr.

BLUEFIELD — Lowell Dewitt Taylor Sr., 82, of Cherokee Road, Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Monday, April 08, 2013 at the Westwood Center in Bluefield, Va.

He was born on January 10, 1931 in Matoaka, W.Va. to the late Philip and Bell Basham Taylor. Mr. Taylor was of member of the Bluewell Baptist Church. He served his county in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved gardening, fishing, college football and basketball. He was an avid lifelong WVU Mountaineers Sports fan. He was retired service manager from Helms-Boys Appliance Center.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Loving daughter: Tammy Beth Taylor; two brothers, Sherri l Taylor and Edsel Taylor; three sisters, Iva Taylor, Grace Shrader and Doris Taylor.

Survivors include: The Love of his life his wife: Anabelle Dyson Taylor of the home; one son: Lowell Dewitt Taylor Jr. of Bluefield, W.Va.; two sisters: Edith Kirby of Bluefield, W.Va., Dorothy Farley of Spanishburg, W.Va.; one grandson: Eric Wayne Taylor of Bluefield, W.Va.; two granddaughters: Sarah Beth Salyer of Bluefield, W.Va., Laura Marie Taylor of Ashville, N.C.; “Adopted Daughter” Deb Eller of Bluefield, Va.; special nephew: Elmer Shrader; his little friends, Baxter and Toby; a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Lacy Books officiating and music by Josh Osborne. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. where friends and family will be serving as pallbearers.
