POUNDING MILL, Va. —
Edward Harrison (Eddie) Sword, age 69, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Va. following a brief illness. Born in Russell County, he was the son of the late Claude Elgin and Hallie Grey Brown Sword.
He was retired from Pounding Mill Quarry Corporation.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irma Marie Lowe Sword; a daughter, Lisa Bales and husband Bobby of Glade Springs, Va.; three sisters, Wanda Cox and husband Bill of Richlands, Va., Janice Rajewski and husband Rich of Jonesboro, Tenn., and Claudine (Peanut) Rambo and husband Pete of Jonesboro; a grandson, Jonathan Bales and girlfriend Tiffany Neely of Glade Springs; niece, Penny Harman and husband Ellis of Richlands, Va.; a brother-in-law, Jerry Hagy of Richlands; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Laws and husband Kenneth of Wilkesboro, N.C.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Va. with the Rev. Roger Lester and Brother Sidney Sparks officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Isaac Sparks.
Friends may call at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va. from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Family and friends wishing to attend the graveside services will meet at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff by 12:30 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
