Mary Louise French Townley

PRINCETON — Mary Louise French Townley, 88, of the Edgemont Addition, Princeton, went to be with her Lord early Friday morning, March 29, 2013 at her residence.

Born June 13, 1924, at Rocky Gap, Va., she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. French and Marie Lambert French.

Louise had worked her entire life, beginning with her work with the Maidenform Corporation as a seamstress with 30 years of service and a member of the ILGWU. She had worked 10 years for Roanoke Fashions in Princeton.

When Louise and her late husband Edwin were living in Lilly Grove, they operated Townley Grocery Store for several years. They will be remembered as giving owners to all in need and always looking out for the less privileged.

Louise was a devoted Christian and a dedicated member of the Maranatha Baptist Church on the Oakvale Road in Princeton.

Louise had a burning desire for the Bus Ministry as well as an Orphanage in India. She loved children and wanted them to hear the message about how God loves them and cares for them. Louise loved to travel with her family and collecting dolls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Earl Townley, along with four siblings: Myriel French, Vera Dixon, Della Jones and Eula Mae Hawley.

Survivors include three loving children and their spouses, W. Ron and Carol Townley of Bluefield, Donald E. and Janet Townley of Seminole, Fla., Lois and Al Harman of Princeton; six grandchildren, Amy Renee and Mark Rader, Julie Beth and Stewart Barnwell, Matthew E. and Kim Townley, Tracy Overstreet, Mark C. and Mandy Townley, Tina Marie and Joe Horvath; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Jimmy R. and Dorothy French of Athens; her sister, Evelyn and Ralph Arnold of Stuarts Draft, Va.; a host of nieces and nephews.

On Monday, April 1, 2013, 1:00 p.m. from the Maranatha Baptist Church on the Oakvale Road in Princeton a service to celebrate the life of Louise Townley will be held with Pastor Marvin Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church.

Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and men of the church.

The Honor of serving the Townley family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
