TAZEWELL, Va. —
Reese Brown Jr., age 75 of the Thompson Valley Community in Tazewell, Va., died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, Va. Born June 8, 1937 in Tazewell, Va., he was a son of the late Reese W. and Mary Lambert Brown.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during 1957-1959. He was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA Local #2322 at Amonate, Va. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a regular participant in his Men's Church Breakfast each Saturday morning. He also enjoyed his regular morning gatherings with his buddies at McDonald's to share stories and news.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gertie Deels; four brothers, John Henry Brown, Bill Tom Brown, Charlie Brown, and Joseph Kenneth Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Wright Brown; two sons, Scott Brown and wife, Deby of North Tazewell, Va. and Anthony Brown and wife, Ann of Princeton, N.C.; one brother, Robert Brown and wife, Darlene of Adamstown, Md.; four sisters, Ruth Angles and Maggie Phillips and husband, Jerry of Tazewell, Va., Sue Smith of Fincastle, Va., and Jenny Webb and husband, Bill of Bluefield, Va.; five grandchildren, Andrew Brown, Nathan Brown, Stephanie Brown, Austin Brown, and Reese D. Brown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Troy Bartley officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, Va. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013.
