BLAND, Va. —
Hubert Allen "Buster" Stowers, age 73, of Bland, VA passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 from his earthly home to his heavenly home as the sun was coming up in the East. He was born on January 24, 1940 in Bland, VA the son of the late Charles Hubert and Daisy Mae Lawson Stowers.
Buster was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and an honorary lifetime member of the Elbert Munsey Masonic Lodge #298 in Rocky Gap, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Franklin 'Tommy" Stowers and Charles Richard "Dickie" Stowers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of forty-nine years, Pamela Kay Ramsey Stowers of Bland; his daughter Melissa Stowers Babbitt and special son-in-law John Babbitt of Bland. Also surviving were "the apples of his eye" during his time on this earth; two granddaughters, Allison Nicole Babbitt and Kelly Ann Babbitt; and one great-granddaughter, Skylar Nicole Inscore, all of Bland; three loving sisters, Glenna Stowers Carlton of Austin, TX; Madeline Stowers Kinser and husband James of Tazewell; Judy Stowers Farley and husband David of Chapel Hill, NC; two brothers-in-law, Dewey Williams of Bland, Phillip Ramsey and wife Mary of Bland; special friends, Randall and Nancy Williams of Bland; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and neighbors who were a very important part of his life.
The funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May l5, 2013 at A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with Pastor Danny Shortridge officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow at the Ramsey Family Cemetery on Short Ridge Road in Bland. The family will receive friends during visitation Tuesday, May 14th at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
