PEARISBURG, Va. —
James Wilburn (Junior) Richardson, 78, of Pearisburg, passed away Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Crab Orchard, West Virginia on June 7th, 1934, and was the son of the late Arlie B. and Annie Bell Underwood Richardson. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Hare; a son, Jerry Richardson; two brothers, Elbert and John Richardson; and a sister, Loretta Thompson.
He was a founding partner of Rich Creek Provision Company, and was co-owner for 32 years. Affectionately known as Junior, he will best be remembered as a good neighbor, always willing to help, and one who was a perfectionist at yard landscaping. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Carol Elliott Richardson; two daughters, Deborah Tedesco, and Jackie Erwin and husband Scott, all of Richmond, Virginia; a son, Wayne Mann of Narrows; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Gills and Louise Neal, both of Rocky Gap, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends, including longtime neighbors of Hidden Meadows, and the members of “The ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Club” at Hardee’s in Pearisburg.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 5th, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows, Va. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Sunday from 12 noon until just prior to the service.
