Clyde R. “Junior” Skeens
OAKVALE — Clyde R. “Junior” Skeens, 69, of Oakvale died Wednesday morning April 24, 2013 at GlenWood Park Retirement Village in Princeton.
Born February 19, 1944 in Herndon, W.Va. he was the son of the late Clyde Roy Skeens, Sr. and Ida Clemons Skeens. Junior was a retired auto mechanic at Wells Chevrolet Garage in Mullens, W.Va., with thirty one years service. He had lived in the Princeton/Oakvale area for thirty five years coming from the Herndon/Mullens area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Hall and Elizabeth Haynes; and one brother, Eddie Skeens.
Survivors include his companion of thirty years, Jeanie M. Harmon of Oakvale; one brother, Ray Skeens and wife Thelma of Oakvale; four sisters, Ellen Johnston and husband Verlin of Arista, Kathy Denman and husband Larry of Cincinnati, Ohio, Minnie Skeens and Juanita Skeens both of Oakvale. Junior is also survived by Jeanie's children, one son, Arnold Harmon of Oakvale; two daughters, Donna Harmon and Shirley Marie Bailey, both of Bluewell; and one granddaughter, that Junior loved as his own, Jessica Nicole Bailey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Kevin Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery, Peggy Branch Road in Hardy. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
