PRINCETON — Born July 15, 1934 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Sidney Pettrey and Rachael Brookman Pettrey. Buddy was a retired dispatcher and cab driver for Mercer Cab Company in Princeton and was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Princeton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Christie Dawn Pettrey; one granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Poole; three grandsons, Wesley Mathena, K.C. “Colt” Baker, and Michael James Patton; four brothers, Daniel C. “Petey” Pettrey, Jay Pettrey, Kleel Pettrey, and Jesse Pettrey; and three sisters, Lida Wyrick, Sadie Johnson, and Violet Lucas.

Survivors include his wife of 49 1/2 years, Mary Martin Pettrey of Princeton; three sons, Buddy Pettrey, Jr. of Bland, VA, Ron Pettrey of Martinsburg, WV, and Christopher Pettrey of Princeton; two daughters, Rachel McCabe and Lisa Mathena and companion Jim Wolfe all of Princeton; five grandsons, Alex Bailey, Justin Bailey, Jonathan Mathena, Blake Pettrey, and Logan Pettrey; two granddaughters, Margaret McCabe and Shadow Pettrey; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor James Coburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Pettrey Cemetery in Pettrey, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Bailey, Justin Bailey, Jonathan Mathena, Blake Pettrey, Cecil Terry, and Jim Wolfe. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Thursday.
