BLAND, Va. —
He was born in Smethport, North Carolina and was the son of the late Robert L. and Ella Mae Miller Hodges.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a former mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Leona Hall Hodges; one son, Mark Alton Hodges; one grandson, Kevin Alton Altizer; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors are: Two Daughters: Olena Marie Harrison and husband, Mark of Bandy, Virginia. Beth Ella Hodges of Elizabethton, Tennessee; Three Sons: Jeffrey Doyle Hodges and wife, Debbie of Pilgrims Knob, Virginia. Shannon Hodges and wife, Kim of Pounding Mill, Virginia. Roy Lafayette Hodges of Richlands, Virginia; Two Sisters: Atleen Scott of Bluewell, WV, Mildred Cepelnik of Gary, WV; Twelve Grandchildren, Twenty Four Great-Grandchildren, and Two Great-Great-Grandchildren and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were so special in taking care of him throughout the years.
Funeral services for John Doyle Hodges will be conducted Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Jim Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
