Willie Maxine Hunt Munsey

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Willie Maxine Hunt Munsey went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2013. Maxine was born on March 27, 1922 in Welch, West Virginia. She grew up in Athens, West Virginia, and Narrows, Virginia, the daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara Hunt.

She was a graduate of Athens High School and attended Concord State Teachers College. On August 17, 1944 she became the bride of Charles Robert (Bob) Munsey. With the exception of a short stint in Radford, Virginia, at the conclusion of World War II, they moved around the country in service with the Navy…  living in Massachusetts, Virginia, Tennessee, California, Texas, New York, Maryland, Rhode Island, and finally Florida. They located to Titusville, Florida, in a work/retirement mode in 1967.

During those 59 years of marriage they had a son and daughter. Maxine was a stay-at-home wife and mother who was dedicated to raising and supporting her family…many times while Bob was overseas. In retirement she found much sense of accomplishment in oil painting. She also enjoyed fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chief Charles (Bob) Munsey, USN Ret; her father and mother Joseph and Barbara Hunt of Narrows, Virginia.

She is survived by her son Captain Charles Jr. of Port St. John, Florida, and daughter Gloria Caskey of San Diego, California, who is married to Captain Maurice Caskey, USNR Ret. Grandchildren include Samantha Caskey, Charles III, Judson Caskey, William Joseph, and Kellye Martin. Also included is Judson’s wife Wendy and William’s wife Margaret. She has five great grandchildren. Maxine found peace as she waited to join family members who went before her. Husband/Dad we are sure anxiously awaits her arrival…a grand family reunion.

Graveside Service will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County, VA. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of departure for the Graveside Service, Saturday at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, WV.
