NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. —
Pamela was a 1979 graduate of Graham High School, a particularly strong class. She received her Associate's Degree in Secretarial Studies from National Business College in Bluefield, VA in 1990, from which she met her husband. She worked at the Landmark in Springville, VA, owned by Mr. Martin Carter. She worked as a secretary and dispatcher with J&S Transport in Adria, VA. She was then employed by Tazewell County Public Schools: first as a cook at Graham High School, then as secretary at Richlands Middle School, then as secretary for the Maintenance Department for Tazewell County Public Schools. She loved her final job as Maintenance Secretary, and was heartbroken that her time there was cut short by her illness.
Pamela, though, was far more than simply her educational and work history. She was multi-talented, both in awe-inspiring and endearing ways. She excelled in: loving God, being a wife, being the family historian, crocheting, cleaning game, having an encyclopedic knowledge of classic television shows, writing all the family obituaries (to which this author hopes to do her justice), writing quirky yet hilarious songs about family members, and letting you have a piece of her mind. She did not excel in smoking, playing bingo, or scratching lottery tickets, but that did not stop her from having fun while trying. However, in the most important task of her life, she was truly exceptional -being the best parent a child could ever hope to have.
Pamela was preceded into eternal glory by her father, Lowell G. Carroll; her uncles, Gordon Carroll, Willard Carroll, John Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, and Grady Taylor; her aunt, Loretta Tiller; and a stepson, Dennis L. Rowe, Jr. She is survived by many in a heartbroken family: her mother, Verta A. Carroll, of Springville, VA; her husband, Dennis L. Rowe, of Springville, VA; her son and daughter-in-law -Chase D. Collins and wife Nicole of North Tazewell, VA; her grandson, Landon Collins, whom she missed meeting by just 12 weeks; her siblings and in-laws -Glenn A. Carroll and wife Shirley, of Springville, VA, Greg Q. Carroll of Cleveland, TN, Angela R. Carroll, of Springville, VA, and Clarissa D. Dailey and husband I. Woody of Salem, VA; her aunts -Carolyn Carroll of Springville, VA and Ruth Shanahan of Kernersville, NC; her uncles -Clinton Carroll of Springville, VA and Cecil Taylor of Kernersville, NC; her stepchildren -Darrie Rowe of Alburnett, IA and Shelley Rowe of Morgantown, WV; 3 nephews, 3 nieces, and several cousins.
