PRINCETON — Born in Princeton on December 7, 1942, he was the son of the late James L. and Lucille Linkous Jones.

He was a retired controller with the Benefits Seafarer's International Union (Merchant Marines) near Washington, D.C. and was involved in several Real Estate transactions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Albert “Nick” Jones and one sister, Delma Coburn.

Survivors include his lifelong friend and retired real estate partner, Bob Stafford of Princeton; one sister, Sandra Kay Croy and husband John of Lakeland, Florida; nieces, Joy Darlene Combs and Drema Faith Miller both of Princeton; nephews, Zachary Croy of Lakeland, Florida, Paul David Coburn of Princeton and James Allen Coburn of North Carolina; great nephew, Danny Combs of Princeton; several cousins and close friends.

A service to celebrate the life of Wayne Jones will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with the Rev. Nathan M. Ware and his wife Jewell a lifelong friend of Wayne officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
