FRANKLIN, N.C. —
Sterling Odell Peek, 73, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013.
Born in Macon Co., N.C., he was the son of the late Bulen Neil Peek and Nellie Hedden Peek. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Morley and Grendall Peek. Sterling was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed gardening, golfing and attended Liberty Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Glenda Sheffield Peek; two daughters, Sherry Peek of Asheville, and Deborah Peek of Franklin; son, Randy Peek and wife Karen of Princeton, W.Va.; brothers, Harold Peek of Middleburg, Fla., LeRoy and Doug Peek both of Franklin; sisters, Maxine Shepherd of Candler, N.C., Christine Parrish of Franklin and Doris Crane of Florida; three grandsons, Justin Reed and wife Emily, Austin Peek and Bryce Peek; great-grandson, Colton Reed; many nieces and nephews and several special brother and sister-in-laws.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. today (Wednesday), June 26th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home in Franklin. The Rev. Clark Sheffield, Wayne Sheffield, Rick Potts and Judson Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family received friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25th at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Court Reece, Justin Reed, Austin Peek, Bryce Peek, Gary Peek and Terry Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Hall, Hayes Snyder and Barry Hannah.
