POCAHONTAS, Va. —
POCAHONTAS, Va. — James Chapman Young, age 75, of Bluefield, W.Va., died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, N.C. Born August 25, 1938 in Thompson Valley, Va., he was the son of the late, Harry R. Young and Pearl E. Young of Abbs Valley, Va. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a retired coal miner.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar R. Young and Roger L. Young; two sisters, Edith M. Bowling and Ruby J. Ritenour.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Jean Young of Bluefield, W.Va.; two sisters, Carol L. Rose of Brewsterdale, W.Va. and Linda D. Gillispie and husband, John of Abbs Valley, Va.; two children, Lesia L. Graham of High Point, N.C. and Ricky C. Young and wife, Amber of Forest, Va.; four grandchildren, Justin A. Graham, Cameron N. Smoot, Aaron M. Young and Sydney A. Young.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Reverend Rick Chester officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell, W.Va. Friends may call Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va.
