Patricia D. “Patty” Payne, 64, of the Welch/Pineville Road, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013, following a short illness.
Patty was born September 10, 1949 in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late George T. Day Sr. and Alberta Phillips Day. She was employed by the McDowell County Board of Education for several years and was a member of the Premier Pentecostal Holiness Church of Premier, WV, where she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Wayne “Tony” Allen.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Darrell Payne of the home; one stepdaughter, Christy Carter of Stopover, KY; two grandchildren, Josh and Makayla Carter of Asheboro, NC; one brother, George T. “Todd” Day Jr. and wife Diane of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Susie Lauman and husband Joe of Bristol, VA; a half sister, Joyce Bridges and husband Hal of Tullahoma, TN; two aunts; one uncle; several nieces and nephews; and a host of additional family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 1 o’clock, with Pastor Randall Dority and the Reverend Glenn Blankenship officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Lone Oak Cemetery in Bug Hurley Hollow near Jolo, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be the men of the Premier Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, Monday evening, September 23, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m., where an evening service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
