Rex H. Shrewsbury, 56, of Lashmeet, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born August 18, 1956 at Beeson, he was the son of the late Daynard Hyle Shrewsbury and Ocie Cline Shrewsbury.
Mr. Shrewsbury attended Bailey Memorial Baptist Church. He was a former saw mill worker. He worked for Webb Furniture Co. in Galax, Virginia for more than 15 years. He moved to Princeton and worked at Rose's and Family Dollar Store. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Shrewsbury.
Survivors include one daughter, Amanda of Matoaka; one son, Cory and his wife Rebeca of Kentucky; two brothers, Johnny Shrewsbury and his wife Mary of Lashmeet and Danny Shrewsbury and his wife Mary of Lashmeet; and four sisters, Evaunda Waller of Galax, Va., Elaine Pettrey and her husband Travis of Bluefield, Frances Shrewsbury and her husband Robert of Spanishburg and Margie Butterworth of Galax, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Larry Akers officiating. The body will be cremated following the service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
