MIDDLETOWN, Del. —
Ruby N. Hanks, 80, of Middletown, Del., formerly of Wonder Lake, Ill. and Mountain Home, Ark., passed away suddenly on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.
Mrs. Hanks was born in Red Ash, Va. the daughter of the late Rose (Newberry) and Ruey Cordell. She retired from Crane Industries, Morton Grove, Ill. after many years as an inspector.
Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Rex Hanks; her son, Robert; her daughter, Connie Carlson; and her sister, Pauline.
Ruby is survived by her sisters and their spouses, Shirley and Roger Carpenter and Alice and Robert Petitt with whom she made her home; her brothers and their wives, Bobby and Wanda Cordell, Joe and Dorothy Cordell and Jack and Alma Cordell. Ruby is survived by two grandsons, Jasen and his wife Ashley Rauch of Springfield, Tenn. and David Carlson of Rockford, Ill. She also leaves behind two great-granddaughters, Eden and Lyric Rauch as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was a proud member of the Women of the Moose – Chapter #1846; Elks #1714; VFW– Auxiliary #3246; Fraternal Order of Eagles #3183; Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association – Unit 251; and UAW Local 922.
Graveside services will be held at the Ringwood Cemetery, 6000 Barnard Mill Road, Ringwood, Ill. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 1 p.m.
