BLUEFIELD — William Robert Bowman, age 60, of Warden Avenue, Bluefield, WV (Bluewell) died on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Princeton Community Hospital following as long illness.

He was born on June 12, 1953 in Bluefield, WV to the late Robert Kelly and Okie Mae Powers Bowman. He served his country in the U.S. Army for four years and was retired from maintenance at a Carpet Mill in Georgia.  

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death one brother Buck Bowman.

Survivors Include: His loving wife Kathy Kinder Bowman of the home. Two sons: William “Scott” Bowman of the home, Robert “Matt” Bowman and fiancée Ashley Dress of Calhoun, Georgia. One daughter: Amanda “Amy” Houk and husband Randy of Brushfork, WV. One sister: Elsie Rose and husband Tom of Bluewell, WV. Three grandchildren: Brandi “C-Bo” Bowman and boyfriend Brandon Stanley of Brushfork, WV, Kaitln “Katey” Bowman and fiancé Travis Woods of Brushfork, WV, MaKayla Houk of Brushfork, WV. One great grandchild the apple of his eye: Nevaeh Bowman of Brushfork, WV. His longtime companion: Tipper Dog. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and several cousins that he will deeply miss.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield (Bluewell), WV with Rev. Delmar Stillwell officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where Jeff Tilley, Travis Pennington, Chad Young, Butch Foster, Brandon Stanley and Travis Woods. The Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.

The Bowman family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), WV.
