James Elbert Noonkester, 71, of Ballard, WV passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Born February 4, 1942 at Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Elbert E. and Dollie A. Radford Noonkester.
James had retired from the Celanese Corp and was a member of the Ballard Baptist Church. He loved to do his woodworking and also enjoyed land surveying.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Christina Noonkester, brother, Eddie Noonkester and a sister in law, Tammy Noonkester.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty M. Lawhorn Noonkester, one son, Matt Noonkester and wife Betsy of Peterstown, WV, three daughters, Millie Frazier and husband Eric of Lindside, WV, Rhoda Ganoe and husband Ray of Ballard, WV and Courtenay Hixon and Greg Wickline of Lindside, WV, one brother, Scott Allen Noonkester of Ballard, WV, stepbrother, Elmer Fulton, three sisters, Ingrad Bradley and husband Dale, and Anita Williams and husband Don both of Peterstown, WV and Vanessa “Katy” Fox and husband Robbie of Bluefield, WV, ten grandchildren, Tristan Dunn, Bret and Cory Frazier, Deryk, Seth, Madison and Parker Noonkester, Sienna and Zeb Hixon and Zy Wickline and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Dunn.
Graveside Services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Orchard Cemetery, Ballard, WV with Pastor Dave Spencer officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home by 12:30 PM, Monday.
