Anthony Ray Smith 58 of Lorton Lick Road, Bluefield, WV passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA.
Anthony was born on November 28, 1955 in Richlands, VA to Ernest B. Smith of Wytheville, VA and Carolyn Cruise Smith Thompson of Bluefield, WV. He had been a resident of Bluefield for the past three years and was a retired Sales Rep for Advantage Wholesale. Anthony was a founding member of the Princeton Rescue Squad Chapel.
Anthony was preceded in death by one grandson Levi Smith
Survivors Include: His loving wife: Pamela Shumate Smith of the home. Four daughters: Amanda Smith Oliver of Dublin, VA, Kelly Smith of Christiansburg, VA, Jasmine Shumate of Bluefield, WV, Angela Gills and husband Bernie of Bluefield, WV. One stepson: Tom Shumate of Richmond, VA. Father: Ernest B. Smith of Wytheville, VA. Mother: Carolyn Cruise Smith Thompson of Bluefield, WV. Grandchildren: Hailey Oliver, Lindsey Oliver, Sara Brooklyn Talbert, Naomi Smith, Tobias Smith, Anneka Smith, Jordan Shumate, Caleb Shumate, Callie Gills, Caitlin Gills and Laila Shumate. Three sisters: Retha Smith and husband Jimmy of Bluefield, WV, Rebecca “Becky” Compton and husband Jerry of Bluefield, WV, Rita Smith Hagerman of Bluefield, WV.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Danny Gunnoe officiating the service.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. Until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In keeping with Anthony's wishes his body will be cremated after the service.
