Goldie Little Sledd, age 95, of Anawalt, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born August 24, 1918, in McDowell County she was the daughter of the late Lee and Victoria Thompson Little.
She was a resident of McDowell County the greater part of her life. She was a member of the Longpoint Missionary Baptist Church in Anawalt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Victoria Little; her husband of 57 years, Clifford C. Sledd; one sister, Ruby Martin; two brothers, Edgar and Wilburn Little; one infant sister; three infant brothers; one grandson, Shane Walk; one great-grandson, Alexander Walk, and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Walk; one son-in-law, Rad Walk.
Survivors include one son, Clifford Lee Sledd and wife Brenda of Bluefield, WV; two daughters, Loretta Billings and husband Jerry of Lansing N.C., and Deborah Cartwright and husband Mike of Anawalt, WV. One granddaughter, Vicki Underwood. Five grandsons, Jamie Cartwright, Brian Cartwright, Michael Sledd, Jimmy Walk, Kelly Walk; nine great-grandchildren, Rachael and Tyler Sledd, Alexander Underwood, Lane, Connor and Cameron Walk, Mina Reed, Peyton Fowler, and Isabella Cartwright, She will be sadly missed by Katie the family pet whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 20, 2014 at 12 Noon from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch with the Rev. Donnie Farmer, officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Bluewell, WV.
Friends may call Monday, January 20, 2014 at Fanning Funeral Home Chapel, from 11 am to 12 Noon
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
