TAZEWELL, Va —
Alexander “Alix” Pilkins, age 66, of Thompson Valley in Tazewell, VA died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home. Born February 4, 1947 in Mercer County, WV, he was a son of the late Albert Lee Pilkins and Eliza Atwell Pilkins.
The compassionate care given by his caregiver, Peggy Pilkins helped so much to make his days easier during his illness.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Shrewsbury and Lula Bell Wyatt; one brother, Roger Pilkins.
Survivors include six sisters, Darlene Stevenson of Sevier, TN, Flora Buffington and husband, John of Missouri, Bessie Hale and husband, Clayton, Stella Waddell, Dorothy Farmer, and Betty Pilkins all of Bluefield, WV; four brothers, Elmore Pilkins and wife, Mary (with whom Alix made his home) of Tazewell, VA, Frank Pilkins of St. Mary's, WV, Ben Pilkins and wife, Sue and Paul Pilkins and wife, Connie all of Bluefield, WV; special caregiver, Peggy Pilkins; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with D.J. Stinson officiating. Burial will follow at Keister Cemetery at Tannersville, VA. Pallbearers will be Kenny Pilkins, Tony Pilkins, Mark Pilkins, Nathan Laney, Jessee Laney, and Michael Pilkins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
