Curtis graduated from Graham High School in 1956 and was very active in sports. He was a proud member of Graham’s 1956 State Basketball Championship Team. Curtis was a true and loyal G-Man. He always spoke of his school, his teammates and his classmates with love and pride. He was also a Virginia Tech and Washington Redskin fan.
Curtis served his country in the United States Marine Corp, serving in the 1958 Beirut-Lebanon Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a longtime member and officer of the Moose Lodge in Bluefield, WV.
Curtis worked several different jobs during his years of employment which included positions with Eastern Isles in Richlands, VA, U.S. steel #2, Gary, WV, and several motel management positions in the Washington, DC and Christiansburg, VA area.
Surviving family members include one son, Joey Lee of NC, and one aunt, Kathleen S. Lee of Maple Acres, Bluefield, WV
Curtis was blessed with special friends, Frank and Jean Mitchell, Jack and Joan Thompson, Ellis and Elaine Sult, Steven (Pete) and Ann Wolford Danko, Eugene and Josephine Horton, George (Gordy) and Ann Graham and Peggy Gregg.
A service to celebrate Curtis’s life will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev Jim Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens, where the VFW Post 9696 will conduct Military Rites. Pallbearers will be Frank Mitchell, Barry Mitchell, Glenn T. Dudley, Eugene Horton, Carl Janutolo and Steven (Pete) Danko. Honorary Pallbearers are Ellis Sult, Jack Thompson, Ron Davidson, Howard Treolo, Roosevelt Sisco and Eddie Neel
The family will receive friends Friday, January 17, 2014 at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until hour of the service.
