PILGRIMS KNOB, Va. —
Born December 6, 1933 in Pilgrims Knob, VA, he was the son of the late Ulis and Gertie Miller.
Perry was a retired UMWA coal miner for thirty-eight years, was of the Pentecostal/Holiness faith and a member of the Loggy Bottom Pentecostal Church of Pilgrims Knob, VA. He loved and served the Lord for fifty-two years, loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were very special to him. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents Ulis and Gertie Miller, he was preceded in death by two sons, Clayton and Randy Miller, one grandson Joey Miller and one brother Herman Miller.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Nancy Stilwell Miller of Pilgrims Knob, VA; daughters Deidra Looney and husband Ralph of Vansant, VA, Christine Matney and husband Scott of Shorts Gap, VA; sons Andy Miller and wife Lisa of Tazewell, VA, Wayne Miller of San Antonio, TX; brothers Alfred Miller and wife Dorothy of Mountain City, TN, Franklin Miller and wife Penny of Whitewood, VA; sisters Maxine Miller Keen and husband Carlos of Pilgrims Knob, VA, Myrtle Miller Stacy and husband Leonard of Tampa, FL, June Miller Kennedy of Pilgrims Knob, VA, Buelah Miller McCall and husband Roland of FL and May Miller Diaz of NC.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law Evelyn Stilwell of Whitewood, VA, nineteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, plus a host of friends including a special friend Victor Cole of Pilgrims Knob, VA.
Funeral service for Perry Robert Miller will be conducted at the Loggy Bottom Church, Pilgrims Knob, VA Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Brothers Mike Altizer and Terry Colley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Beasly and Dr. LBassi of Bristol Regional Medical Center and members of the Loggy Bottom Pentecostal Church of Pilgrims Knob, VA.
The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 after 6:00 p.m. where evening services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
The family will receive friends at the Loggy Bottom Pentecostal Church Thursday, January 16 at 12:00 noon one hour prior to the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
