Leon Ernest Hall, 84, of Princeton, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Westwood Healthcare in Bluefield, VA.
Born March 5, 1930 in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late Frank McKinley Hall and Gussie (Short) Hall. Leon served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean conflict. He worked as a welder and mechanic in the mining industry. Leon was an avid golfer. He was a member of Ceres Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Raymond, and Delano Hall.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Jean (Gibson) Hall, two daughters, Debbie Dixon and husband Mike of Bluefield, VA, and Kathy Olinger of Mt. Pleasant, SC, four grandchildren, Chris and Matthew Dixon, Heather Olinger and Jessica Harris, seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Heidi, Michael, and Kelly Dixon, Brooklynn and Noah Harris, and Emma Dixon. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob Hall of Olympia, WA, and Bill Hall of Bluefield, a sister, Carolyn Robertson of Pembroke, VA, and special sister-in-law, Jewel Spence.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton.
A service to honor the life of Leon Hall will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend James Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The Mercer County Honor Guard will be presenting military rites to honor Leon's service to his country.
