Juanita Hendricks

BLUEFIELD — Juanita Hendricks, 91, of Cumberland Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on May 9, 2014 at the Westwood Medical Center. She was born on April 13, 1923 in Pence Springs, WV. She was the daughter of the late Frederick Douglas Gore and Cordelia Jefferson Gore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hendricks; one son, Kenneth Hendricks; one grandson, Clarence Lee Hendricks; four sisters, Mary Buford, Helen Mosby, Dorothy Brown, and Eula Hash; three brothers Charles Gore, Lawrence Gore, and Glen Gore and one stepson, Tyrone Hendricks.

Left to cherish precious memories of her are two daughters, Beverly Hill (Gary) of Piedmont, WV; Brenda Watson (Solomon) of New York, N.Y.; one sister Audrey Totten of Beckley, WV;  one grandchild Kimberly Thrower (Omar) of Weirton, W.Va.; two great-grand children, Victoria and Brae Bryant of Weirton; Collette Hendricks a devoted and faithful daughter in love and spirit; two step-grand-children; five step-great-grand children; a special grand-god daughter, Alana Coleman; a host of nieces and nephews and John Lee who became like a son to her when he donated a kidney to her son Kenneth.

She was the best Mother ever to her three children and a very devoted wife to Harold. Her grand-daughter; great-grand-children and step-grand-children brought great joy to her heart. Her family, friends and the community thought of her as a 'sweetheart.' She was a caring friend to those in need and a devoted member to her church, John Stewart Methodist. Before retiring, she worked at St. Luke's Hospital as a surgical technician in charge of sterilizing medical instruments.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the John Stewart United Methodist Church, 102 Jones Street, Bluefield, WV at 2:00 P.M. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Entombment will take place at the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Route 52, Bluewell, WV immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to John Stewart United Methodist Church.
