Mary Ellen Compton

PRINCETON — Mary Ellen Compton, 73, of Princeton, died Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born June 2, 1938, in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Lamar Paul and Thelma Gertrude DeWeese Thompson. She was the owner and operator of Mary's Flag Car Service in Princeton. Mary always loved and took great pride in her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting yard sales and spending time with her friends and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Luther Compton; infant son, Kevin Lamar Compton; and half brother, Charles Mitchell. 

She is survived by four sons, James “Jimmy” Compton and his wife Melissa of Princeton, Timothy Wade “Timmy” Compton and his wife Penny of Florence, S.C., Clinton Woodrow “Woody” Compton and his wife Angie of Princeton, and Keith Thomas Compton of Princeton; seven grandchildren; one brother, Ray Thompson of Elgood; one sister, Billie Sox of Princeton; two half sisters, Carolyn Butler of Radford, Va., and Penny Dobbins of Gainesville, Va.; and one half brother, James Mitchell of Orlando, Fla. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Reverend Richard Allen Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Park Cemetery, West Main Street, Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton.
