WILLOW SPRING, N.C. —
Mr. Sluss was the son of the late Frank Nathan Sluss and Ara Bell Walk Sluss. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and one sister, Earl Sluss, Kenneth Sluss, Clifford Sluss, Frank Sluss, Jr., and Edith Beavers.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Anne Newman Sluss; three children, Christopher Craig Sluss and wife, Marsha Dawn Folks Sluss of Raleigh, NC, Cheryl Lynn Lynch and husband, John Shaw Lynch, II of Williamsburg, VA, and Rodney Shane Sluss and wife, Kelli Sue Haas Sluss of Creedmoor, NC. He also has three beloved grandchildren, John Shaw Lynch, III, Virginia Katherine Lynch, and Shane Michael Sluss; three sisters, Naomi Murry of Kingsport, TN, Grace McGee of Jonesborough, TN, and Janice Mahaffey of Lancaster, PA; also beloved nieces and nephews.
Randolph was a retired Government Worker and Manager of Drug Store in Northern Virginia. He also served in the Airforce. He was a graduate of Gary High School, McDowell County, West Virginia, with a perfect school attendance of 12 years and received a full scholarship to Randolph Macon College. He was selected and attended Boy’s State. His hobbies were baseball, football, cards, bingo, and loved playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church, Fuquay-Varina, NC.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Fuquay-Varina Presbyterian Church, 308 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC at 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2014. Visitation will be at the church in the Ransdell Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to the service.
